Hair Care

Hey, girl remember when we talked about going natural and you were telling me how it is and once you train your hair, the outcomes are never ending. Well since I’m going natural and everything should I keep using the same hair products and if no, is it expensive to make the switch? Many women going through the natural hair process find themselves bothered by the fact they might have to start using different hair care products. But there is always a plus to making a change.
Switching your hair care products is not necessarily a must in some cases, but for better results it should be considered. Firstly, even with processed or straighten hair, you should rotate your shampoo and conditioner frequently to prevent from build -up. On a website called viva women they discussed the benefits and cost of rotating your shampoos and conditioners. They discussed the reasons for build-up and said, “A shampoo with cheaper ingredients can often leave a film on the surface of the hair and styling products like gel, mousse, hairspray can do the same” (Viva Women). Another reason why switching your products is good is because changes in weather and climate may cause your favorite hair care products to stop working. In the process of transitioning products try also switching to organic products, which are healthier for your hair.

There are many great hair products for natural hair, you just have to do the research and find what works for you. Going natural is a rewarding process because not only do strengthen your hair, but the natural hair care products for naturals are endless and made with natural ingredients. Switching to natural hair care product  is not only beneficial to your hair but to the environment as well. The best thing about organic hair care products is that they do not contain toxic chemicals. On a website about making the switch to organic products it talks about how most commercial hair care products contain anionic surfactants and silicone based emollients. These toxins are the following
Anionic surfactants are foaming agents that can be a serious health threat as they often combine with other ingredients to form cancer causing compounds. Some of the most common anionic surfactants are listed as SLS, SLES, ALS, ALES and TEA.
Silicone based ingredients basically coat your hair with plastic. Much the same as when you wrap food in plastic wrap. Because of this your hair is not able to breath or absorb neutrients necessary for it to remain health. Any ingredient with "cone" in its name, such as dimethicone, dimethicone copolyol or cylcomethicone can be thought of as plastic wrap for your hair or skin. (Natural and Organic Choices)
As you can see these chemicals are quiet damaging for your hair and the environment.  Here are some tips of how the process will work. Once you start using natural products you will first notice that your shampoo doesn’t foam. This will happen till your hair has had the opportunity to detox and remove all other chemicals. The detox process may be difficult at first, but it should only take a week or two (Natural and Organic Choices).
Many oppose going natural because they say the process is too expensive for this reason, hair care products. But once your realize that you are not helping your hair but damaging it, this process will be rewarding. There are many inexpensive natural hair care products to accommodate all types of natural hair it is just the research you have to do find the right product that works for you.
